I went to a hair salon a few years ago where they had various short, inspirational quotes on the back of their business/appointment cards.
I didn’t have a long relationship with that salon, but (unbeknown to them) the impact of those cards was huge. In fact, I still have both those cards – one in my wallet and one in my car.
At that time in my life I was feeling a bit stuck and directionless. Restless. Not really happy with some aspects of my life.
I only ever got 2 appointment cards, and out of all the random and varied quotes on the cards, I got the same message twice – With Brave Wings She Flies.
With Brave Wings She Flies!!
Oh how that resonated with me. It spoke to me on a soul level and I took that quote and made it my personal mantra for the year. I found this image and used it as soul food and created some changes in my life.
Within that next year I sold my bookkeeping business and moved into business coaching, the start of where Business Headspace is today.
I also broke off a 3-year relationship that I had never been completely sure about. I know now that you know when it’s right, and if you’re just not sure then it’s just not right.
At every scary step of the way I held on to this mantra – With Brave Wings She Flies. It was scary and exciting all at the same time. I had to be brave at times, but I was ready to soar, and soar I did.
Recently I came across this image from back then and once again it feels so very right. It feels like I’m stepping into a new phase. Levelling up. Again, it feels a bit scary and exciting all at the same time, but I have courage, and with brave wings I’m flying.
Change can be daunting, right?
There are unknown aspects, and sometimes there are aspects that are very much known, and you’re not sure if you can make it.
But the effort of holding on to something that’s not working, that’s not feeding your soul, takes far more energy than plucking up a bucket full of courage and stepping into something new.
Where in your life are you holding on to something that is not lighting you up? Where in your life could you be brave and fly into new possibilities?
PS: I would love to credit this image, its beautiful and has such significance for me, but I don’t know where I found it. If you happen to know, please let me know so I can thank and acknowledge the creator.
