A close friend of mine has a great farewell saying as he’s parting. “Be great today,” he says.
I love this because it is a reminder of two things:
Firstly, it is a reminder that we actually have a choice as to how we live our day; how we behave, what we accomplish, how we treat others. A reminder that we can choose to be great.
And secondly it carries with it an implicit belief in me that I am certainly capable of being great. It’s an affirmation, an expectation even.
We all have the capacity to be great, we all have the capacity within us to do amazing things, to be inspiring, to be the best you that you can possibly be.
If we carry this thought and intention forward through the day and into each moment, if we act from greatness in each moment, then surely that is a day well lived.
What “being great” actually means will be different for each person. As you start your day today I invite you to consider what it means to you. Imagine yourself at the end of your day, asking yourself “was I great today?” How is it that your day will have unfolded for the answer to be a resounding YES!
Be great today! 🙂
